CCTV is a proven way of deterring criminals or catching them after an incident

Police in Leyton are using CCTV footage to ask for the public’s help in identifying a thief who used a screwdriver to steal thousands of pounds worth of tools. An AlertSystems spokesperson responds to the report.

CCTV footage of a suspect police want to speak to regarding the theft of thousands of pounds worth of tools has been released to the public. The incident involves a man using a screwdriver to break into a white Mercedes van and take tools valued up to £2,300. The screwdriver itself had also been stolen just moments before.

The incident occurred in a B&Q car park, and CCTV footage shows the suspect entering the building just before the first theft. Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the criminal, and hope that somebody will be able to come forward regarding the incident.

AlertSystems, a leading provider of commercial security solutions, takes a keen interest in stories such as this. A spokesperson provided this statement: “It’s deplorable when thieves act in these ways, and hopefully this footage will be able to help in the capture of this criminal. Stealing somebody’s tools straight out of the van is one of the worst crimes as it takes away their ability to work.

“Thankfully a surveillance system was placed inside the store which means the police and the public can put a face to the crime. It’s vital to work together in times like this to stop criminals from getting away with their actions. CCTV is a proven way of deterring criminals or catching them after an incident, and you should really be thinking about having a surveillance system installed for your business if you haven’t already.

“AlertSystems can offer advice and inform you about everything you need to know regarding the implementation of CCTV on your premises, so if you’re interested in protecting your company then get in touch with a member of our team today.”
