The reaction comes following a report in the Stroud News and Journal detailing an incident involving an assault on a Polish man outside two shops in the local area after a confrontation at the entrance of one of the establishments.
Ladislav Hubinsky was assaulted by two young men after a drunken argument escalated quickly late last October. The two men were seen on CCTV to have provoked Hubinsky into a reaction, with the Gloucester Crown Court recognising that he threw what has been described as a “lame and weak punch” at one of the two men. Following this, he is seen to be dragged in between the two shops aggressively, with his head colliding with a bollard. The attack left him with a deep cut on the forehead and the chin.
Fortunately, there was sufficient CCTV security in place that allowed authorities to help identify the two assailants and apprehend them. The judge, upon seeing footage of Mr Hubinsky hitting his head on the ground and being kicked by one of the men, sentenced the pair to 80 hours of community service and required that they must attend an aggressive behaviour course in order to address their issues.
A spokesperson for AlertSystems, market leaders in successful commercial security implementation, has released a statement following the incident. “It is fantastic to see a CCTV security system once again proving why it is so vital in bringing criminals to justice.
“Assault is something that should not be tolerated by any local community, and it is refreshing to see that the cameras used by two local businesses were able to play such a positive role in identifying the two men responsible for this needless and potentially damaging attack. We urge any businesses that are yet to protect their premises, staff and customers properly to do so immediately.
