theft – a matter that was a growing concern for these organisations and one the CCTV cameras have been instrumental in curtailing

The reaction comes following a report in the Barry and District News detailing a collective effort from a number of organisations within a local community that have led to two arrests after security services were improved.

Following an initiative started by the Vale of Glamorgan Council, Barry and the surrounding areas have seen a greater investment in security infrastructure. Through collaborating with a number of local bodies, the area has seen the number of reported incidents rise considerably in recent weeks – two of which have resulted in arrests.

Through close collaborations with various NHS Trusts that operate in the area, as well as receiving backing from local police and fire and rescue services, the community has been able to install security systems within publicly accessed buildings.

So far, the two incidents have been concerning theft – a matter that was a growing concern for these organisations and one the CCTV cameras have been instrumental in curtailing. A spokesperson for AlertSystems has released a statement following the report, stating: “When there is a recurring problem within a community, it is important that local organisations take positive action in order to tackle this.

“Theft can be a seriously disruptive and damaging crime to be on the end of, especially for organisations such as the NHS Trust who are designed to help some of the most vulnerable people within these communities.

“Here at AlertSystems, we believe a pragmatic approach to security is needed in order to deter potential criminals from carrying out illegal acts. Through collaborating, a number of bases are able to be covered in order to prevent these instances re-occurring and with these recent arrests it will send a message out to the local community that there is a zero tolerance policy regarding this.
