Pub landlord Mark Duxbury posted online, where he encourages his fans to “Share and get this viral...”

An amused pub landlord has released CCTV footage on an unlucky punter falling to the floor, reminiscent of in an infamous moment from TV’s Only Fools and Horses. The footage, while amusing, serves to highlight a more serious problem. A spokesperson for AlertSystems provides a comment.

The footage shows a fairly busy pub in Lancashire in the late afternoon. A member of staff at the Arden Inn covers a pool table and jacks it up on a trolley to pull it away. Several patrons of the pub notice what’s going on, commenting on the redecoration, with both staff and customers acknowledging each other. Not even 10 seconds after the pool table has been removed from sight, one of the patrons of the Arden Inn decides he’s going to lean back on the now-missing table. He falls through the air and crashes into the floor. This mirrors one of British TV’s most iconic moments where Del Boy from Only Fools and Horses tells Trigger to “Play it nice and cool, know what I mean?”, flirting with a lady across the pub, before falling through the bar.

Pub landlord Mark Duxbury posted online, where he encourages his fans to “Share and get this viral...” The video was originally uploaded to Facebook and has had over 15,000 views at time of writing. It has since been posted on YouTube where it has had an additional 10,000+ after only 18 hours.

AlertSystems, a UK provider of commercial CCTV security solutions takes a keen interest in stories such as this. A spokesperson for the company commented on the footage, saying “The unfortunate gentleman has found stardom online in this video. Fortunately nobody was seriously harmed in the making of this video, and while everyone had a laugh, this footage comes with a more serious note on how CCTV can protect businesses from false liability claims. Should the man have decided that his accident was the Arden Inn’s fault and the CCTV camera was not in place or faulty, it would have been the man’s word against the Inn’s. False liability claims are a real issue for businesses – especially ones licensed to sell alcohol. If anyone injures themselves on commercial premises, CCTV can show exactly what happened. Without it a liability claim can be difficult to defend.”
