Nurses and midwifes are being urged to check their Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) renewal date to avoid dropping off the register amid the introduction of the new revalidation system next year. That is according to specialist healthcare recruiter MSI Group.
All nurses and midwives will need to revalidate at the point of the renewal of their registration in order to remain on the NMC register – and revalidation applications will be due 30 days before the renewal date.

“Revalidation is the responsibility of the healthcare professional – not the employer. I urge all nurses and midwives to log-on to their NMC online account to find their renewal date. Not all professionals will be required to revalidate at the same time - the first nurses and midwives to revalidate will be those with a renewal date in April 2016.
“Although employers and reputable recruiters will be able to assist with revalidation, it is worth bearing in mind that applications are due a month ahead of the renewal date – so make sure you don’t get caught out. As with any new initiative, there is likely to be some level of confusion surrounding processes. By determining your renewal date now, you can ensure you’re well prepared to meet the new revalidation requirements.”
