Sustainability is a concern for most higher education institutions

08 March – The University of Exeter is using the BoardPacks online board portal to improve sustainability practices within the Business School.

BoardPacks is a board meeting management portal from technology firm eShare, and is used to improve information sharing at a senior level, specifically on the preparation of board packs for meetings.

“Our senior team attend a lot of meetings, so one of the key benefits for us is the ability to move away from hard copy paperwork to an online platform,” said Ian Broadfoot, Executive Officer, University of Exeter Business School.

“Not only has this helped to support our ‘green’ agenda by enabling us to reduce our impact on the environment, but it’s also provided a level of flexibility for the team, who can now review and update papers on the move.”

The University of Exeter is a Russell Group university, with more than 21,000 students and is in the top one per cent of universities worldwide. Exeter is also ranked 9th in The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2017 and 11th in the Guardian University Guide 2017.

BoardPacks is designed to make it easier for board members to demonstrate accountability, compliance and transparency. Also available as an app for tablets or smartphones, it is a smarter way to access meeting papers, documents, risk registers and decisions, and ensure users remain on top of governance and compliance.

“Sustainability is a concern for most higher education institutions,” said Alister Esam, CEO, eShare. “It’s encouraging to see BoardPacks has made such a difference to the University of Exeter Business School, both in terms of its green agenda but also in providing improved flexibility in decision-making for the senior team.”
