New Head of eMarkets to drive ambitious plans to be dominant supplier of marketplace software across Europe
READING, UK-November 14, 2000--Clarus Corporation (Nasdaq: CLRS), a leading business-to-business (B2B) e-commerce solution provider announces the appointment of Nick Mayo as Head of eMarkets for its EMEA operation. Mayo, a former British Telecom (BT) executive, was responsible for developing the company’s approach to the European B2B market through a series of strategic partnerships.
"eBusiness is no different from any other business in that it must be based on sound commercial principles - and processes. Part of my background includes chartered accountancy training and I am impressed by the practical nature of the Clarus approach. I am excited by the breadth of the company’s multi-language and multi-currency capabilities that are so essential to developing e-commerce in Europe, and in both the flexibility of the business model and the purity of a non-transaction fee based pricing structure," Mayo said.
Mayo was recruited from BT where he was responsible for devising strategy and building relationships with partners to develop B2B offerings across Europe. In this role he launched eBusiness services in Ireland with Ocean, and set the course for the roll-out across the rest of Europe. He was also responsible for the implementation of BT’s joint venture with VerticalNet in Europe.
"Nick brings the level of achievement and expertise necessary to lead our aggressive plans to grow our business in Europe," said Steve Jeffery, Clarus president and CEO. "His solid track record in sales, marketing, product management and business development is an incredible value-add to our global team."
Over the previous six years he held various positions within BT in wholesale carrier services and international product management, as well as leading on the creation of the international bandwidth product line for the Concert joint venture between AT&T and BT. Prior to BT, he had experience selling software and telecommunications services into B2B markets, primarily the City based financial institutions and European telecommunications operators. Nick Mayo is a graduate in Economics and Political Science from the University of East Anglia.
