Party time for the industry at the IT Relief Ball Friday 17 November 2000 PDF Print The IT industry dug deep to make the most of the fun last Friday for KIDS London, 17th November 2000 - IT Relief, the IT industry’s charity initiative and the children of KIDS, a charity helping children with special needs/disabilities would like to extend their thanks to all the supporters at this year’s IT Relief Charity Ball. The `Winter Fairground` IT Relief Charity Ball which was held at the Royal Lancaster, Hyde Park, London - Friday, 10th November 2000. The IT industry let down its hair and danced the night away raising funds for KIDS. Attendees spanned the full IT spectrum from resellers, vendors and the media. Over £11,000 was raised on the night from the charity auction, casino and other fundraising activities. Sam Brier, Chief Executive of KIDS, IT Relief’s beneficiary said: "KIDS growing relationship with IT Relief and its member companies has meant that our hopes for bringing the benefits of computers to the many disabled children we help are becoming a reality. We are enormously grateful for the generosity shown on the night - not only the fantastic amount of money raised but also the large numbers of computers and software pledged by everyone at the event. KIDS will make sure that every penny is put to good use and that every computer and piece of software is made available to the children we help." "The IT Relief Ball had a fantastic atmosphere and certainly showed that the IT industry still knows how to party and spend their money having a good time for KIDS. Thanks to all who sponsored, attended and supported our efforts. My advice is book early for the next one." said Clare Williamson, Marketing Manager at Logical, and chairman of the IT Relief committee. Williamson continued, "Although the ball raised an outstanding amount we still have a long way to go to meet our aim of networking the 4 UK centres and putting a PC into the home of all the children of KIDS. We need your help to continue the fundraising. So whether it’s a charity football match, a sponsored run or fines for using e-mail or mobile phones in the office, it all makes a big difference by bringing technology to the children of KIDS."
