MGI’s web & PC photography software to ship with Intel Pocket PC Camera

MGI Software today announced that Intel has licensed MGI PhotoSuite to be included with its Intel Pocket PC Camera. Designed for the home PC market, the lightweight, easy-to-use PC camera is available for a suggested retail price of US $149 (approx. GBP £100).

Don Whiteside, general manager of Intel’s Connected Products Division, said, "The Intel Pocket PC Camera is a multi-purpose tool that offers consumers an excellent introduction to the fun and exciting opportunities for using images on the PC and the Internet. PhotoSuite represents a very robust software suite and expands the photo editing capabilities available to our customers."

The Intel Pocket PC Camera captures snapshots and video at, and away from, the PC. When connected to a PC through the supplied USB cable and monitor cradle, the Intel Pocket PC Camera provides unlimited video capture and still image snapshot capabilities. When untethered, the camera's built-in 8 MB of memory can capture a combination of 128 Internet-ready VGA quality images or two minutes of video. The camera can also capture photos in a burst mode that will process as many as five shots in two seconds.

Anthony DeCristofaro, president and CEO, MGI, said, "PhotoSuite is a comprehensive addition to the Intel Pocket PC Camera, allowing users to do more with their captured snapshots. We are pleased that Intel, one of the leading suppliers of PC cameras, has selected our popular photo software."

According to IDC, worldwide PC camera shipments will increase at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 72 per cent, from 11 million in 2000 to 44 million in 2004.
