Advanced’s Chief Technology Officer (CTO), Jon Wrennall, has been selected to join the CBI’s prestigious Innovation Council. As the UK’s leading voice in business, the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) aims to build an internationally competitive innovation eco-system that reinforces Britain’s strengths. With innovation one of the CBI’s five pillars of its prosperity agenda, its Innovation Council is at the forefront of its policy work.

As part of a three-year minimum term on the Innovation Council, Jon will join other senior business figures to help steer the CBI’s policy work on key policy campaigns, consultations and reports.

Jon joined Advanced over two years ago and is responsible for driving innovation and quality in the development of its suite of software solutions and services. A renowned thought leader in the technology sector, Jon has over 20 years’ experience in the industry. He was previously CTO at Fujitsu UK and Ireland, and prior to moving to Fujitsu, Wrennall served as Chief Information Officer, Transformation Director and SIRO at the Valuation Office Agency (VOA), and was Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs’ first Chief Technology Officer, leading the integration of the former Inland Revenue and Customs & Excise organisations.

Jon Wrennall comments: “Technology innovation is at the heart of the future prosperity of Britain as organisations change and adapt to succeed in this disruptive digital era. Sitting on the Innovation Council means we can provide a voice on the role of technology in creating an internationally competitive economy for the UK. It will also allow us to lead the conversation when it comes to the ethical and moral impact of tech innovations, such as Artificial Intelligence.

“As a business at the cutting edge of digital transformation, I’m looking forward to working with senior colleagues to challenge policies and reports to ensure the vital work that the CBI does continues to represent Britain’s diverse business community and retains the UK’s position as a major global player.”

Alongside the CBI’s regional and national councils, the Innovation Council means members have a direct say in what the organisation does, the contribution of which will have a real impact on the CBI’s work, helping to shape its messages to the UK Government and influence the business landscape’s future.

As a member of the CBI Innovation Council, Jon will regularly meet with members to provide robust analysis and testing of ideas to ensure business innovation is at the heart of decision making.
