-- Entuity survey shows business support highest priority and security the lowest --

LONDON, UK – November 22, 2007 – What would you look for if you had an all-seeing eye? That was the question in a new survey commissioned by Entuity™ to find out what IT managers would most like to have visibility of in their IT environment. Nearly half (46%) of those questioned said they would want a view on how their IT infrastructure is supporting their business, while nearly one in five (19%) want visibility into how their network is performing. Only 4% want visibility on the security compliance of their IT environment.

“With a a significant majority of respondents wanting visibility on how their IT infrastructure is supporting the business and how the network is performing, you can easily understand the critical importance high performance networks play in today’s business profitability and productivity,” said Kenneth Klapproth, vice president of marketing at Entuity.

“However, we were a bit surprised about the seemingly low importance of security compliance. Even though the finance industry had the highest number of managers choosing to view compliance of their IT environments to security policies with their all-seeing eye, it was still their lowest priority. We suspect the low numbers are more due to the specialized expertise – and proportionately lower number of survey participants – required for IT security. Perhaps the relatively miniscule showing of security in this survey will help change corporate priorities to prevent any more child benefit records ‘mistakes’.”

Available later this month, EYE 2008, the newest release of the company’s award-winning Eye of the Storm® (EYE) network management suite includes added modules and core product enhancements in more than a dozen functional areas that provide the visibility desired by survey respondents. Whether server-based applications, centralized content management, service oriented architectures (SOA), or virtualized environments, the network is the foundational service that must always be available and performing well. EYE 2008 delivers insight, control, and predictability to help enterprises, managed services providers and system integrators effectively meet critical business objectives and improve end-user satisfaction.

Highlights from the Survey Results

Entuity commissioned Vanson Bourne to ask IT managers what they would most like to see from their IT infrastructure if they had an all-seeing eye.

The survey asked:

If you had an all-seeing eye over your IT systems, what would you most like to look at from the list below? The overall results were as follows:

• How my IT infrastructure is supporting my business - 46%
• How my network is performing - 19%
• How my bandwidth is being used - 13%
• What service levels (SLAs) are being delivered - 10%
• How my applications are running - 8%
• If my IT environment is compliant with company security policy - 4%

The survey was conducted online between October 27-28 with 200 IT managers across a range of industries with companies of between 250 and 1,000 employees.
