Companies & Veterans Hit the Jackpot in Tidworth

Many of the employers who exhibit with BFRS, recognise the wealth of experience and valuable skill sets that ex-military personnel have.

British Forces Resettlement Services (BFRS) National Employment & Careers Fair @ Tidworth Garrison. Companies are expected to hit the jackpot, as hundreds of delegates from the military are expected to attend on the day.

Up to 85,000 personnel that are expected to leave the forces by 2021. Two thirds of employers are expected to experience deficits in soft skills within the next five years, with more than 600,000 jobs left unfilled. Barclays argued that by deploying more ex-military personnel into civilian job roles, one in six of these vacancies could be filled, resulting in a contribution of £12.6bn to the UK economy.

Neil Dean, Managing Director of British Forces Resettlement Services (BFRS) said "Many of the employers who exhibit with BFRS, recognise the wealth of experience and valuable skill sets that ex-military personnel have. We are seeing more and more companies sign up to our National Employment & Careers Fairs, exhibitors at Tidworth include; BAE Systems (Event Sponsor), Marston Holdings (Bag Sponsor), Bristol Management Center (Network Sponsor), Aldi, Hilton Hotels, Heathrow Airport, Lain O’Rourke, DHL and Morson Group."

Many of the organisations attending the Employment & Careers Fair have already hit Bronze, Silver and Gold, through the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS). These awards are for employer organisations that pledge, demonstrate or advocate support to defence and the Armed Forces Community (AFC), and align their values with the Armed Forces Covenant.

BFRS are also delighted to confirm that we have been successful, and been awarded the Ministry of Defence Employer Recognition Scheme Silver Award in August 2017.

Lieutenant General Richard Nugee CVO CBE, Chief of Defence People, writes:

“For many, the transition from military service into civilian life represents one of the most significant changes an individual and their family will ever experience. It is right that, as a Department, we provide as comprehensive a resettlement offer as possible, and I am proud of the work that we do, with partners such as the British Forces Resettlement Services (BFRS) organisation, to support our remarkable veterans and their loved ones.”

With over 2000 career openings available at this event, it truly highlights these companies’ commitment to provide a positive future for the AFC. It also means people from the Armed Forces Community can hit the jackpot at Tidworth and find their next Career.

About BFRS

As a Social Enterprise, BFRS provide services to tackle social problems, improve Armed Forces Communities and people’s life chances. Key to this is knowing that military resettlement is more than just the brief time when leaving the services, and that it isn't just personnel from the regular forces who are affected. Therefore, all the services BFRS deliver are open to Service Leavers, Reserve Forces, Veterans, civilian MOD employees, as well as partners and families, and it doesn't matter how long or how long-ago people served.
