CitySocialising’s CEO and founder Sanchita Saha, has been shortlisted as a finalist in the prestigious Women of the Future Awards 2009.

The awards - founded three years ago to identify female role models - celebrate rising stars in the business, public and creative world, and outstanding young women transforming Britain for the better. They are hosted by Real Business magazine in association with Shell.

Covering nine categories, Sanchita’s nomination within the Entrepreneurial Woman of the Future category, sees her pitched against four other hopefuls including Emily Bendell, Blue Bella Ltd; Kate Craig-Wood, Memset; Claire Rennie, Berry; Holly Tucker,

Sanchita’s addition to the list comes in recognition of her achievements in setting up and launching CitySocialising, a subscription-based UK city-wide events-based socialising network and community for 25-40 year old professionals living in, working in and relocating to cities.

With a Prince’s Trust loan, former BBC employee Sanchita spent 18 months researching, testing and developing her idea to create a trusted network for young professionals through which they could simply meet people from their local area, meet new friends with shared interests and then socialise together and connect offline safely at real world, group social outings and activities in their city.

Her first site launched in London in January 2007 and, within eight months was rolled out to seven other UK cities. Today CitySocialising spans nineteen cities in the UK and Scotland.

Most recently, Sanchita successfully secured £260,000 investment via the London Business Angels network to invest in a new technology platform and expand the network internationally.

Sanchita said of the nomination:

“It’s a real honour to be included within such a talented group of entrepreneurs. The business has been growing at a really fast pace since launching the network from zero base and it’s great for all hard work and milestones achieved along the way to have been recognised.”
