Headstone by Tadhg Verdier

The UK edition of National Geographic Kids magazine is delighted to announce the overall winner of the National Geographic Photography Contest for Kids 2015.

Eleven-year-old Tadhg Verdier, from Co. Dublin in Ireland, scooped the prestigious award with a photograph he took of his little sister for the Weird but True category, entitled Headstone.

The competition was judged by award-winning children’s TV presenters Sam and Mark, celebrity adventurer Helen Skelton, and renowned National Geographic photographer Reza.

“We love Tadhg’s photo so much,” said Sam and Mark. “The colours are great. We love the fact his sister’s red hair matches the red pebbles. It’s odd, funny and fits the category perfectly!” Helen Skelton added: “His photo really makes me smile!”
