This Friday, a ukulele orchestra will be serenading shoppers near London Liverpool Street Station to raise funds for this year’s Red Nose Day, and they’re looking for more uke fans to join the cause!
On March 24th at 18:30, a group of 100 ukulele players will treat passers-by to a rendition of Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life, led by renowned one-man-band and ukulele player Jake Rodrigues. Assisting him will be players from the Duke of Uke, following along on giant chord sheets, so anyone with a ukulele will be able to join in!
Event organiser and owner of ukulele shop The Duke of Uke, Matthew Reynolds, said: “Red Nose Day is all about having a bit of fun to raise money for a great cause, and this year we’re thrilled to be taking part. There are thousands of people who need our help, not only in Africa but right here in the UK. With your help, we can brighten Londoners’ evenings and at the same time, help save lives.”
Getting involved is easy – just meet the team at Liverpool Street Station with your ukulele in hand, and play along with the rest.
After the performance is over and the team have reached their target, they will be decamping to a nearby venue for a ukulele jam session. Reynolds continued: “This is a great opportunity to meet fellow ukulele players, have a good time, and be a part of an amazing nationwide fundraising effort.”
