E-Lites Race Into BTCC Season

E-Lites On Hunter Abbott

E-Lites have teamed up with two very talented racers in one of the country’s most prestigious racing championships

E-Lites are delighted to announce the launch of a sponsorship with Rob Austin Racing in the British Touring Car Championship, which got underway at Brands Hatch this weekend. This announcement from the leading electronic cigarette company follows the success of last year’s partnership with British Superbikes.

As a result of the sponsorship, Rob Austin, who is an E-Lites user, will sport the company logo on his helmet. The E-Lites logo will also be visible on the bonnet of his teammate, Hunter Abbott, who scored his first Championship point and ended up second top rookie on his debut race weekend.

Rob Austin is a fan’s favourite on the grid and delighted his followers with a 5th place finish in the opening race, before a retirement and an 11th place secured him sixteen points for the opening weekend. Rob will be hoping to better last season, where he picked up his first career podium finishes and in Rockingham picked up his first win. But he’ll have his eyes on even more this year.

Hunter Abbott is new to BTCC but no newcomer to racing, having competed in British GT, European GT, SCSA and most recently 2013 Vice-Champion in the Benelux Porsche GT3 Supercup and will be hoping for a solid season, hopefully trying to ruffle a few feathers at the top.

Speaking of the deal, E-Lites’ Chief Sales And Marketing Officer Trevor Field said, “We are delighted to be associated with such a magnificent event. Hunter Abbott said “Watching the BTCC in the Nineties is what made me want to race in the first place. Racing in the BTCC is the realisation of part of a childhood dream and finally I’ve got an opportunity to do it – and with a team that’s clearly on the up. I’m delighted to welcome E-Lites on board and with their help and their philosophy of strong self-belief, I believe I can reach the podium this season.”

E-Lites’ sponsorship with Tim Hastings continues into 2014, and the young Superbike rider takes to the track at Brands Hatch over Easter weekend for the season opener.
