Esker Selects Open Computing as Master Distributor for the UK

Landis and Ingram Micro lose out to UK's largest independent distributor

Shardlow, UK - April 11, 2001 - Esker Ltd. today announced their appointment of Open Computing Ltd. as Master Distributor for the UK. Leeds-based Open Computing is the UK's largest independent distributor of leading edge industry standard, hardware and software products. Esker will partner with Open Computing to distribute their Tun Plus host connectivity and VSI-Fax for Unix product suites.

In 1999 and 2000, Esker acquired American companies Persoft and VSI. With the acquisitions came a host of new distributors in addition to existing partnerships. "We had relationships in place with Landis and Ingram Micro," says Bashrat Din, Managing Director Northern Europe, "but we felt that they weren't really right for us strategically. What we wanted was a sole distributor with a strong and loyal customer base that understood our product lines and how they integrate. Quite simply, Open Computing, with their reputation for high levels of customer service, fit our profile."

"Esker's products are already recognised the world over for their innovation and flexibility," says Jonathan Ellis, Sales and Marketing Director, Open Computing. "That said, they still require a high level of marketing through the channel if they are to realise their full potential. Open's business and vendor distribution contracts are going from strength to strength and Open's policy to be market makers through an aggressive sales and marketing strategy was no doubt one of the key reasons why Esker granted us sole distribution."

Open Computing became Esker's Master Distributor for the UK effective April 1, 2001.
