Organisations that store, process or transmit cardholder data with the Visa, MasterCard, American Express, JCB International and Discover logos must achieve and maintain a standard known as ‘Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) compliance’. Failure to do so could ultimately lead to card brands removing the card processing facilities from organisations.

Leading corporate information security firm Espion, is hosting a webinar for IT professionals around PCI Scoping, which is the process of mapping out cardholder data-flows within an environment to reveal which systems store, process and transmit cardholder data. Accurate scoping is a critical part of the PCI compliance process.

The webinar, which is hosted by Espion senior consultant, John Hetherton, (a PCI Qualified Security Assessor (QSA)), is an opportunity to get insights from an auditor’s perspective around effective scoping and how to optimise your chances of achieving and maintaining PCI compliance.

John Hetherton says: “PCI Compliance is ultimately about reducing the risk of security breaches and providing assurance to customers their data is secure.

Following the right process and employing the right technologies are paramount if you want to accurately define the scope of the cardholder data environment. Minimising the scope of the cardholder data environment as much as possible will reduce the amount of work needed to comply with the PCI DSS standard as well as reduce the overall risk of a card data breach in your environment.”

Espion has an established track-record working with market leading organisations in the UK and Ireland to achieve and maintain PCI compliance. In its role as a QSA, Espion also acts on behalf of the PCI Security Standards Council™ to audit and certify organisations as PCI compliant.
