Northgate opens new Benefits Processing Centre in Hartlepool

Northgate Information Solutions has today announced the opening of a new and innovative remote centre for processing benefits claims to speed up the delivery of housing benefits to citizens.

Based in Hartlepool, the processing centre will initially employ 22 new people in highly-skilled work, with a further 20 planned in the near future following the centre’s implementation. The centre uses the latest technology, enabling it to process benefit claims securely over the internet on behalf of local authorities throughout the country.

Local authorities who are under pressure to quickly process housing benefit claims will use the new centre to process their claims instead, leading to a radical improvement in service delivery for their citizens.

Andy Ross, Managing Director of Northgate Managed Services, said:

“We are delighted to open a centre in Hartlepool which aims to benefit citizens from all over the country. We will ensure that we get claims processed correctly, first time, on time, every time. With our solution everybody wins – citizens, local authorities, as well as the people of Hartlepool. We already provide a wide range of services for Hartlepool borough council which is one of a small minority of councils to be judged to be providing excellent services. Our relationship with the area is strong, this initiative will make it even stronger.”

Mike Ward, Chief Financial Officer at Hartlepool Borough Council, added:

"The inward investment into the borough by Northgate associated with this development is excellent news. It's a tribute to the skills and talents of our people that we can attract successful and innovative companies like Northgate to our area.

“Northgate is at the forefront of using technology to promote citizen-centred services to councils nationally, and the partnership working between Hartlepool BC and Northgate will assist in ensuring this development is a successful venture."
