South Cambridgeshire goes online to improve environmental health

Northgate Information Solutions today announced that it is to work in partnership with South Cambridgeshire District Council to help local citizens submit and track the progress of environmental health enquiries and requests online.

South Cambridgeshire’s Environmental Health Online system will enable citizens to access information across 13 different areas, covering abandoned vehicles, animal licensing and welfare, caravans, dogs, energy efficiency, food and hygiene, health and safety, noise, pest control, pollution and housing, refuse and recycling, trade waste and water. South Cambridgeshire residents are now able to request a service via the authority’s website, and track its progress where appropriate.

For both staff and citizens this means:
- a quicker, more efficient system for making environmental health enquiries or requesting services such as reporting abandoned vehicles in their area;

- less bureaucracy for staff, enabling them to focus on delivering the highest levels of customer service;

- a simpler system to handle enquiries, with the ability to automatically keep citizens up to date.

This service will improve quality of life for citizens of South Cambridgeshire, empowering them with information and resources to change their standards of living, such as finding out the pollution levels of their area or ensuring appropriate waste removal services are in place.

Geoff Sissons, Applications and Information Manager, South Cambridgeshire District Council said today:

“We have worked with Northgate for a number of years and find them to be a forward looking and proactive company. This system comes as part of a plan to upgrade a number of our land and property applications, and has again shown that Northgate is able to provide an excellent service alongside easy to implement solutions.”

David Meaden, Managing Director of Northgate Public Services, said:

“We are delighted to be working with South Cambridgeshire District Council, and to be helping their environmental health department deliver a better service to citizens.

“It is essential that local people are able to access information on environmental health issues, and also given the opportunity to contribute to improving the quality of life in their community. We look forward to continuing our successful relationship with South Cambridgeshire.”
