Northgate secures vital energy efficiency accreditation as HIPs get closer

Northgate Information Solutions today announces that it has secured accreditation from BRE, the leading environmental certification body, for its software used to measure home energy performance.

One of only five companies to reach this standard, Northgate’s software can now be used to complete one of the key components of the new Home Information Packs (HIPs), which sellers will be required to provide from June 2007. Energy Performance Certificates will be required in Section H, and are based on the government’s Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP) for calculating the energy performance of a dwelling.

Northgate’s newly accredited MAXIM 5 SAPCalc 2005 software is already used by architects, designers, local authorities and housing associations across the country, and has been recently updated to include assessment of the efficiency implications of newer technologies such as photovoltaics and MicroCHP.

Dave Meaden, Managing Director of Northgate Public Services, said today:

“We are delighted to be recognised for meeting the exacting standards laid down by BRE. Northgate is now well-positioned to work with organisations across the housing sector to help meet the challenges and harness the opportunities of the introduction of HIPs next year.

“This accreditation is testament to the skills of our energy efficiency team, and I would like to thank them for their ongoing commitment to excellence in this area.”
