many teachers do not have the time resource available to provide each student with their own personally tailored revision planner
www.MyRevisionPlan.co.uk is a new, free online tool to help GCSE students plan their revision. The site is the first of its kind in the UK to automatically link into the Capita Sims system, and has more than 3000 students and 250 schools already registered.
Capita Sims is a school administration system that stores the examination details of individual students. Once a school has registered on the site a GCSE student can enter their Unique Candidate Number for their exams, which will automatically populate their revision plan with their unique exam timetable, and schedule their revision against time criteria, ability in different subjects and extra curricular activities.
www.MyRevisionPlan.co.uk is the result of two years of focus group research with students, teachers and parents and the brainchild of Elaine Gordon, a working wife and mother from Manchester. Commenting on the site, she says: “As a parent I was struck by how difficult it was for my son to plan his GCSE revision in a meaningful, useful way. His school provided excellent guidance, but many teachers do not have the time resource available to provide each student with their own personally tailored revision planner.
“I found my concern was shared by many parents, and so together with a group of like-minded parents resolved to try and create an easy to use, quick online planner to help students revise effectively.”
www.MyRevisionPlan.co.uk includes sophisticated features such as a ‘quick start wizard’ to help students automatically create personal intelligent revision plans, drag and drop controls, a week by week personalised schedule, a time balance function to show allocated, missed and completed revision sessions and a time line to illustrate overall progress against exam dates.
Elaine concludes: “We have 250 schools registered across the UK, and the feedback has been very positive. It’s such an easy tool to use, is free to both schools and students, and most importantly, it really does help students with a lot of subjects to revise for their GCSEs to plan their study effectively.”

MyRevisionPlan is a new and completely free website designed to help students plan their GCSE revision. Specific exam details for each student can be drawn automatically into the planner from a school’s Capita Sims admin system to ensure the correct details are added, meaning the student doesn’t have to complete the planner manually.
The website is very user-friendly with intuitive drag and drop controls to allow students to quickly build a personalised, adaptable revision plan around their available time, including leisure activities. The site includes many sophisticated features such as a Quick Start Wizard in which users set time criteria and rank ability in each subject to automatically create an intelligent plan. Sessions are ticked off as the user completes them and recorded in Time Balance, which gives an instant and visual overview of progress.
