Ringway paves the way for effective connectivity with Telstra Europe

- Telstra Europe selected to provide MPLS solution to UK leading road development and maintenance company

- Solution allows 24/7 access to business-critical applications for 600+ users with failover and resiliency built in

- Project extends long-standing relationship

London. 6 September 2005 - Telstra Europe, a leading provider of voice and internet services has been selected by Ringway Ltd, the UK’s leading development and maintenance agency responsible for the UK national highway network and airports, to provide and manage MPLS (Multi-Protocol Layer Switching) connectivity to the company’s 600 employees across the UK. Ringway, whose geographical remit spans from Devon to the Highlands, will benefit from increased connectivity speed and response times, wider access to mission critical applications and enhanced productivity as a result of wider adoption of remote and mobile working.

Telstra’s solution will also deliver direct cost benefits, with users seeing up to a 960% improvement in connection speeds. Addressing spiralling variable data traffic costs, this fixed cost MPLS solution also includes automatic failover to ensure the highest availability on the network, stability of traffic and reduced downtime all guaranteed by Telstra’s Europe’s robust service level agreements.

Outsourcing its connectivity to Telstra Europe will offer Ringway peace of mind and confidence in its connectivity while offering the company the ability to route both video and voice over the network in the future, scaling to future needs.

David Thorn, CEO of Telstra Europe, comments on the agreement:

“This project builds on a highly successful relationship with Ringway. Its decision to select Telstra serves as testament to our strong customer service levels and is particularly gratifying.”

Says Marc Evans, Head of IT support at Ringway:

“We are delighted to extend our relationship with Telstra Europe. We have enjoyed excellent levels of service in the past and were impressed by the adaptability of the company’s solution. Telstra listened to our business requirements and created a solution to fit our exact needs, rather than trying to fit us into an existing, off the shelf solution.”

“The solution allows any-to-any connectivity so remote workers across the UK are able to quickly and easily connect to any other site and access business critical applications, supported by the internet, which is improving our project management capabilities. A further benefit is that our IT team can troubleshoot IT problems remotely, which will save time and money and help ensure our project management goals are delivered on time and in budget.”

Telstra is one of the UK’s largest independent providers of telecommunications and managed e-business infrastructure to business users, providing high quality and secure communications solutions and managed hosting and professional services for mission-critical business systems. Ringway’s MPLS connections will be delivered over Telstra’s IP network and supported by industry leading Service Level Agreements (SLAs), including the provision of 24/7/365 technical support via its European Customer Services Centre, based in London’s Docklands.
