London, 5th May 2006, Telstra Europe, one of the UK’s leading alternative business telephony and data service providers, is launching a range of cost-effective packages to help small and medium-sized business customers improve their communication services and significantly reduce the cost of their monthly bills.

The ‘Comms’ packages are aimed at existing and new customers and combine telephone line rental, ADSL broadband internet access and inclusive call minutes. Broadband speeds of up to 8 Mbps are now available with all of Telstra’s broadband services , including the new packages. The packages are ranked amongst the most competitive business solutions available in the UK today.

New customers will enjoy free installation or migration to broadband and free transfer of existing telephone lines. Customers will also have the option of adding Telstra’s Broadband Enhanced Care package and additional telephone lines such as ISDN2 or ISDN30 at any of their locations. In an offer unique to Telstra, calls made on all extra lines will also be incorporated into the free call allowance.

David Thorn, CEO of Telstra Europe commented, “Small to medium sized businesses in the UK want to increase productivity, lower their costs and reduce the complexity of their IT. Our business packages address these needs, simplifying the management of broadband and telephony services by providing one cost effective, simple and flexible solution for broadband, telephone line rental and calls. In what is a highly competitive market, these packages offer businesses realistic pricing, nationwide coverage and the scalability to grow their communications requirements, which will all help deliver real business benefits over a sustained period.”

Telstra’s Business Comms Max package comprises Business Broadband Max (up to 8Mbps1), analogue telephone line rental and 500 free minutes to any UK phone numbers with 01 and 02 prefixes, at a cost of £49.99 per month for one year, or £48.49 per month for a two year contract.

Mr Thorn added, “As competition within the UK broadband market continues to intensify, we are delighted to be one of the first providers to launch up to 8 Mbps broadband on a nationwide basis, which forms an integral part of our ‘Comms’ packages. Notably, our standalone Business Broadband Max service is also £5 per month cheaper than the equivalent BT service2.”

As a result, the Business Comms Max package can save business customers £212.00 a year compared to standard Telstra prices, and over £350.00 a year when compared with BT’s equivalent services, which include BT Standard Telephone Line Rental and BT’s Business Broadband ‘Share’ product3.

Telstra also offers a Service Level Agreement with a Guaranteed Time To Repair (GTTR) on all broadband services. For an additional £10.00 per month customers can choose to protect vital business connectivity with Telstra’s Enhanced Care package, offering an improved GTTR and a Service Availability Guarantee.

1 The actual speed attained will depend on the length and quality of the telephone line. Telstra will provide the fastest speed possible up to the maximum quoted speed of the service purchased.

2 Telstra’s 8 Mbps Business Broadband Max service costs £39.99 per month; BT’s 2 Mbps Business Broadband Share service costs £45 per month – source, 7th April 2006.

3 The call tariff used for this comparison was a BT Customer Commitment of £15,000 per annum on a 1 year contract. Those customers on lower commitments will stand to benefit from even greater cost-savings, based upon information from, correct as March 2006.
