Zycko unveil digital asset solution for the broadcast and media industries

16th March 2007 - Zycko and Front Porch Digital, the market leader in Content Storage Management (CSM), have integrated an end-to-end solution for storing and managing digital media assets in the broadcast and media production industries.

Front Porch Digital is the global market leader in CSM solutions and has long been an innovator in delivering unique software, services and integrated hardware solutions for CSM to broadcasters and media companies worldwide. Today, Front Porch Digital’s patented CSM technologies are found in more than 160 installations across more than 40 countries, representing 4.5m hours of content and more than 30 petabytes of data under management. Front Porch Digital’s award-winning DIVArchive technology manages the largest broadcast archives in operation for the world’s best-known media brands.

Under the terms of the deal, Zycko has enabled Front Porch Digital to integrate its leading Content Storage Management solution DIVArchive with Isilon's award-winning family of IQ clustered storage systems, as well as with data protection solutions from Spectra Logic.

By combing the strengths of these three systems, Front Porch Digital will be able to provide broadcasters and media companies with a complete state-of-the-art digital CSM solution. This allows for the seamless migration of existing tape libraries into digital assets.

The solution will enable customers to capture, securely store, manage and repurpose their digital assets for the improved preservation of content. The solution also ensures a greater operational efficiency, performance and scalability for the future addition of vast volumes of digital assets.
David Galton-Fenzi, group sales director at Zycko, said: "Broadcasters are challenged with the management of enormous volumes of existing and new media content, which are growing at an unprecedented rate.

“We are delighted to be working with the world's leader in Content Storage Management, Front Porch Digital, to offer broadcasters and media companies a complete digital workflow solution that enables them to easily move from existing tape library environments. We are confident that the combined solution has the ability to transform the way that broadcast and production companies simplify the management of their digital material, increase their productivity levels and capacity to handle new business opportunities,” he said.

Rino Petricola, senior vice president and managing director of Front Porch Digital International, said: "Zycko is the obvious partner because of its reputation and experience of working with best-of-breed vendors. Working with Isilon and Spectra Logic, we are offering a complete end-to-end digital storage infrastructure solution for the broadcast industry.

“This solution genuinely addresses the challenges of managing digital storage today and we are confident that together we are able to offer a scalable solution fit for the industry’s requirements,” he said.

Anthony Yeates, vice president of Spectra Logic sales for the EMEA region, said: “The heart of the end-to-end digital asset system is the tape archive or library. The Spectra T950 and T120 archives provide high capacity in a small space, ease of use, and component flexibility, with customer staff optionally handling component installation in minutes, as part of the single unified solution, now available through Zycko, a single contact.”
