DK brings the illustrated world of Star Wars™ to life for fans at Star Wars Celebration Europe

Release in brief: DK celebrates its extensive Star Wars™ publishing list during Star Wars Celebration Europe at ExCel London this July 2016.

Main Copy:

DK continues to provide Star Wars fans with the means to immerse themselves in the detailed, complex world of Star Wars. From Ultimate Star Wars to the popular Star Wars Readers for young children, DK boasts an extensive catalogue of Star Wars books, giving fans of all ages access to everything there is to know about the incredible Star Wars franchise. In 2015 alone, DK sold 400,000 books worth more than £2.5 million.*

On the 15th July, DK will be attending the annual Star Wars Celebration event at London Excel, showcasing a collection of must-have DK Star Wars titles and offering fans the opportunity to meet the people behind the books. Star Wars Celebration is a three day event running from the 15th - 17th July.

Visitors will be plunged into a specialist 3D floor taken straight from the recently released Star Wars The Force Awakens™ Incredible Cross-Sections, and have the exclusive chance to create their own Rebel Alliance quest with copies of LEGO® Star Wars™ Build Your Own Adventure signed by super-builder Rod Gillies, two weeks before the book’s official publication.

DK’s Star Wars publishing list provides sustenance to fans, opening up the Star Wars universe in between films, offering enthusiasts access to a wealth of information and unparalleled behind-the-scenes knowledge. During Star Wars Celebration, which returns to the capital for the first time since 2007, DK will be hosting four notable authors who’ve given depth, knowledge and realism to vehicles like Rey’s speeder, the cleaning schedule of the Death Star and shone a light on the enigmatic Mandalorian warriors. Adam Bray, Cole Horton, Kemp Remillard and Jason Fry will be meeting and signing copies of their books for fans as well as taking part in a panel discussion during the event.

Simon Beecroft, DK Publishing Director, Licensed Books said: “DK’s Star Wars books have given people of all ages a way to continue to explore the world created by Lucasfilm and Disney outside of the movies and games. The appetite for extra information and detail amongst fans is why we create these books. Not only do our books offer insight into the Star Wars world, the imagery and text is also easily accessible and appeals to both adults and children in a unique way.”

“Star Wars Celebration Europe is the perfect time to thank those readers for their continuing support for DK Star Wars books, and through the stand design, guest authors and additional activity we will have on our stand, we hope to excite existing fans and also welcome new ones into the publishing world of Star Wars.”

In addition to author appearances and signings, the DK stand will feature a £1 Lucky Book Dip including DK Readers and Sticker Books. Visitors to the stand who sign up to the DK Star Wars Newsletter will receive exclusive postcards.
