KeyMS develops unified messaging online patient contact service

KeyMS has developed a unique unified messaging service for our customer, Wellwishers, which allows one to keep in contact with family and friends if they become hospitalised. Wellwishers utilises new technology to solve the age-old problem of contacting people in hospital and letting them know you care.

Within hours of hearing that someone has gone into hospital, friends and relatives can go onto the site and send gifts as well as a telegram, printed at the hospital and personally delivered to the patient.

The service uses a bespoke communications and commerce engine written by KeyMS. This software incorporates e-commerce functionality, web messaging and wireless alerting in a unified package.

It is currently being piloted at Southampton General Hospital and will soon be launched to more than 240 hospitals nationwide.

Paul Kent, Wellwishers founder & CEO, got the idea when his father was taken ill and the difficulty he experienced in trying to contact him. Having spent considerable time looking into how to get all the technology together to make the service a reality, Paul decided that the best route was to have the entire service specifically written to his requirements. It was then that he asked KeyMS to become his technical partners.

"There were lots of off-the-shelf packages out there", said Paul "but I decided upon KeyMS because of their extensive technical know-how and experience in this field. I knew they could build me exactly what I wanted at a fraction of the cost and I am very happy with the result."

Andrew Chalmers, KeyMS CEO & founder said, "This is an excellent utilization of the potential of new technology which promises to raise patients' spirits across the country. Wellwishers is yet another innovative project in our portfolio and we are looking forward to developing the concept further with them."

About Wellwishers

Wellwishers has been specifically designed to provide a valuable message and gift delivery service to aid the welfare of patients in hospital. Wellwishers is being rolled out to hospitals throughout the UK to ensure there is an easily accessible, single point of focus for anyone wishing to send gifts and messages to loved ones in hospital. Wellwishers is run by local caring people, at or near the hospital, whose sole objective is to provide a reliable and prompt service. Part of the Wellwishers' philosophy is to assist the hospitals financially. A contribution is made to the hospital for every order made. In so doing, we hope to raise significant funds for hospitals and their charitable funds. Wellwishers is designed to make patients' stay in hospital more pleasant and to allow friends and family easy access to send a message or gift. It also allows patients the opportunity of thanking the hospitals and staff with a Telegram, or by making a donation to the hospital.
