Leading British ventilation manufacturer Vent-Axia is celebrating winning ‘Commercial/Industrial Ventilation Product of the Year’ category at the prestigious HVR Awards 2017. Scooping the award for the Vent-Axia Pure Air, an innovative air filtration system, the Sussex-based company received the accolade at a glittering awards ceremony on Thursday 26th October at London’s Chelsea Harbour Hotel.
Vent-Axia beat stiff competition this year to win the ‘Commercial/Industrial Ventilation Product of the Year’ category with the standard of entries said to be exceptionally high. After a rigorous judging process, the judges selected the company’s advanced air filtration system the Vent-Axia Pure Air, which was {{praised by the judges for addressing indoor air quality (IAQ) issues and demonstrating great foresight and commitment to public health}}.

With air pollution rising up the agenda in the UK, IAQ is becoming an increasing concern in both commercial and residential settings. A recent report in The Lancet found that in the UK, about 8% or 50,000 deaths a year are estimated to be linked to pollution. Most of these deaths are caused by non-infectious diseases linked to pollution, such as heart disease, stroke and lung cancer.
With a growing body of research pointing to the health implications of poor IAQ in both domestic and commercial buildings, Vent-Axia has set the benchmark for high-level filtration with its Pure Air. The Vent-Axia Pure Air filtration system is designed to be used in conjunction with Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR) and Demand Energy Recovery (D-ERV) systems to increase filtration levels and offer a healthier indoor environment. Vent-Axia Pure Air removes pollutants from outside air that compromise the quality of indoor air when brought into a building.
MVHR and D-ERV systems extract harmful pollutants but also allow the air coming into a building to be filtered, taking out harmful airborne bacteria and dangerous contaminants. The Vent-Axia Pure Air filter then goes one step further to improve IAQ, working with the MVHR or D-ERV system, it is fitted to the intake airflow and incorporates two types of filtration—activated carbon and G4/F7 particulate filters to achieve even higher levels of filtration. G4 filters can remove up to 90% of the PM10 particles in the air, including some bacteria, most pollens and many types of industrial dust. Meanwhile, the finer F7 filters are ideal for inner city areas with heavy traffic since they remove up to 80% of the tiny PM2.5 particles, this includes fine diesel particulates.
Designed to improve IAQ in a wide range of new build buildings the Vent-Axia Pure Air is available in different sizes for use in properties from small apartments to large offices. The size of the filtration system needed is determined by the required airflow of each application. Plus the Vent-Axia Pure Air also has a range of rectangular and round spigot options, including combinations of both to offer unique versatility at the point of installation. The filter unit can be installed vertically or horizontally to optimise available space and fit a multitude of MHVR/D-ERV configurations, this makes the filtration system accessible to wider range of applications.
The Vent-Axia Pure Air provides high-level filtration levels with the particle filters conforming to EN 779 and combined with specially formulated gas filters help meet IAQ levels conforming to EU Directive 2008/50/EC. In addition, the Vent-Axia Pure Air is designed to improve IAQ and comfort for occupiers and so external noise is attenuated as it passes through the unit thus reducing induct noise and helping to achieve specified sound levels in dwellings.
