Ideal Hardware has been signed as a UK distributor for EMC’s Clariion range of Enterprise storage solutions. Ideal will also work in conjunction with European affiliated companies Bell Microproducts Europe and Rorke Data, under a unique arrangement, to deliver EMC’s product offerings to EMC’s northern Europe territories which include the UK, Benelux and the Nordics.
EMC’s offering is divided into two product ranges: Symmetrix, which is sold via a direct model predominantly onto mainframe platforms; and Clariion, which is sold via the channel onto open systems. The agreement represents an invitation by EMC to Ideal and Bell Europe to become their preferred distributors for this region, with a view to the northern European engagement becoming the pilot for the pan-European agreement. In addition to the revenue derived directly from sales of the Clariion range, Ideal and Bell Europe expects to generate significant revenues from tangible complementary sales in northern Europe.
Peter Yarwood, EMC’s Channel sales manager for northern Europe, comments: “The agreement presents both companies with a strategic partnership which allows us to leverage both Ideal’s and Bell Microproducts Europe’s strengths and expertise. Ideal can offer us an extensive network of potential new resellers through its alliance with Bell Microproducts Europe. Ideal and Bell Europe have a highly efficient supply-chain across the whole territory and also have a dedicated Clariion sales team of 28 people for northern Europe. This coupled with its heavy investment in Enterprise storage business strategies, makes it a key distribution partner significant to the success of the Clariion range in northern Europe.”
Simon Stokes, Ideal’s European franchise manager for EMC, comments: “The addition of EMC as a channel partner expands our product offering to deliver Enterprise storage solutions from a market-leading $9bn organisation. The Clariion range complements our extensive range of storage and connectivity solutions to deliver a fully integrated storage offering. EMC is a great addition to Ideal’s and Bell Europe’s portfolio and represents a further step in our ongoing program to position both Ideal and Bell Europe as the leading enterprise storage players in Europe.”
The signing will be officially announced at Ideal’s SANblast event held in Birmingham on June 19th. For free registration to the SANblast event and for further information, visit http://www.sanblast.co.uk
