Caalm Camp offers a beautiful glamping experience with a difference – Original Mongolian Yurts in the beautiful North Dorset countryside. Situated just south of Shaftesbury in Dorset, our former dairy farm enjoys stunning views across the Blackmore Vale, to Duncliffe Woods, Bulbarrow and Hambledon Hill. Caalm Camp has been voted to be the best Glamping Site in the South West by campsites.co.uk

We have a collection of 6 yurts at our farm and we have made sure that you have a more luxurious twist with comfortable wrought iron beds, white cotton linen, fur blankets, cushions, electric lighting and sockets, and even a private bathroom with a flushing toilet, hot showers and underfloor heating in our Old Haybarn building. Each yurt has it’s own cheerful wood-burning stove – In Asia the stoves are fuelled with animal dung but luckily we have plenty of free firewood at Caalm Camp. We guarantee that you won’t get wet or cold whilst staying in your yurt at Caalm Camp as long as you keep the stove stoked.

The surrounding area to Caalm Camp offers some amazing family days out to make lifelong memories.

Some of our favourites include a day out fossil hunting at Lyme Regis or Charmouth – both beautiful seaside towns.

A day at Wookey Hole and Cheddar Gorge – both amazing fun and fit for all ages. Longleat is only an hour away from us and the safari park is one of the best in Europe.

Poole and Bournemouth are within easy reach of Caalm Camp and are also beautiful Dorset towns to go and visit.

The most amazing area in our opinion is The Jurassic Coast, the first place in England to be designated a World Heritage Site in 2001. From Studland Bay to Exmouth the Jurassic Coast offers beautiful walking on the South West Path or take a boat from Weymouth and go and see the Jurassic Coastline from the sea. Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door offer incredible beaches and stunning views.

Shaftesbury is just a stone’s throw– home of Gold Hill (Hovis advert) and a plethora of beautiful Dorset villages and towns to explore.

Relaxation is a huge part of yurt life and our yurts are exceptionally good for a relaxing break. You can lounge in your yurt and read, chat or play games whilst enjoying the peace and quiet. You also have your own private fire pit and barbecue right by your front door. All guests have full access to the communal indoor kitchen allowing you to prepare breakfasts and picnics for the day. If you fancy a pizza evening, just let us know. We have an incredible pizza oven that you can book for private pizza evenings.

In the evening you can hear the local wildlife whilst star-gazing through the clear roof dome. Our camp offers the perfect environment to enjoy the night skies - there are no large cities near by thus allowing the stars to shine bright. So enjoy a glass of wine and toast marshmallows in the moonlight.

Caalm Camp offers the perfect break for people looking for a family break and it suitable for all ages, including babies. Staycations are becoming more fashionable than ever and the UK offers a wonderful alternative to foreign holidays. According to Sojern who specialise in travel data analysis, in the months between October 2016 and January 2017 they reported statistics that bookings increased by 23.8% for those planning to take a summer holiday in the UK in 2017. The increase is occurring again for 2018.

Yurting is a perfect holiday in both the Summer and Winter. The Summer offers a perfect countryside holiday whilst the winter offers a cosy magical retreat.
