Norman Security Suite scoops best in test – TWICE

Leading IT security vendor, Norman, has beat off stiff competition from Eset, Symantec, F-Secure and Trend to be awarded “Best in Test” from two principal IT publications for the recently launched Norman Security Suite.

Even before its official release, Norman Security Suite came out on top in a software security test conducted by the computer magazine PC World Norway. The test included security solutions from F-Secure, Symantec, McAfee, Eset and Trend Micro in addition to Norman. PC World tested complete security solutions, which in addition to virus protection also deals with other relevant security needs, like personal firewall, protection against spyware and phishing, and protection of instant messaging services.

Efficient protection, ease of use, performance and speed were the features evaluated in the test. Norman Security Suite stands out as the winner, and is, according to PC World, particularly strong on performance: “Norman’s performance is impressive,” the well-respected magazine wrote.

Fresh on the heels of official release, IT Pro Norway was next to embrace Norman Security Suite. Security packages from Trend Micro, F-Secure, NOD32 and Symantec were tested.

The test focused on the areas functionality, ease of use, performance and how quietly the program runs. Norman Security Suite is highly rated in all categories and is impressed by the fact that the program is effective at the same time as it isn’t resource-demanding. The test concludes: “Norman has really done a solid job and impresses greatly with its new and creative solutions.”

Consisting of a personal firewall, parental control and protection against viruses, worms, Trojans and spyware, Norman Security Suite has advanced mechanisms for safeguarding against the threats a user is exposed to on the Internet at the same time as it is user friendly and needs few resources.

“Norman Security Suite has been designed to meet the growing demands of our customers. We have invested substantial resources in improving our home user offering in areas that we know demand extraordinary solutions. During this development our goal was simple - to make installation and use of Norman Security Suite as smooth, self-explanatory, and easy as possible, without compromising security, market feedback suggests this has been achieved.” says David Robinson, UK and Ireland Country Manager, Norman UK.

Personal Firewall

The firewall has a two-way function which filters incoming and outbound traffic. Surveillance of the traffic prohibits the computer from being hijacked and abused in botnets, by criminals, or other unauthorized intruders. In addition, the firewall has a stealth feature that renders the computer invisible for potential hackers. Advanced users will appreciate the option to customize the firewall to adjust the safety-level to whatever is perceived as appropriate.

Parental Control

The parental control component allows users to set up separate profiles which allow tailored access to the Internet for each specific user or groups of users e.g. teenagers, children etc. When using the parental control an active filter will secure a dynamic and real-time control over what content is deemed appropriate when surfing the Internet. There is also a calendar that can be used to set parameters for when the family’s youngest members are allowed to access the Internet.

Anti virus and anti spyware

Automatic virus and spyware protection identifies, blocks, and removes unwanted programs like viruses, worms, trojans and other varieties of destructive program code that could jeopardize your privacy, identity or simply reduce computer performance. Norman SandBox technology has an important function in keeping new unknown viruses, trojans, worms and other malicious programs out of range of your identity and data.
