Outdoor & Country Make Shortlist For 2013 Online Retail Awards

Outdoor & Country, part of Smith & Morris Retail Limited, one of the UK’s leading online suppliers of casual outdoor and country style clothing, are delighted to announce that they have been included in the shortlist of finalists for the 2013 Online Retail Awards.

The prestigious award is a unique international celebration of the very best retail websites and mobile sites. The awards are designed to celebrate companies that have gone above and beyond what would normally be expected, and strive to deliver a top quality customer experience. Competition from companies from all over the world is fierce, and the Online Retail Awards is one of the most highly regarded global events and recognition of the best in online retail practice. And it seems that Smith & Morris Retail, who currently run several high profile websites selling the best in British outdoor and country clothing, have certainly been impressing the judges, resulting in two nominations in the Fashion & Clothing and Overall: Specialist Categories at the Customer Experience Awards for the website

“For us, there is nothing that’s more important to our business than ensuring that every customer has the best user experience online, from the moment they go onto our site right through to the checkout,” comments Jonathan Capener, Managing Director of Smith and Morris Retail Ltd.

“We’re continually striving to improve and use the feedback our customers give us to make sure that everyone has the best experience possible, and being shortlisted for this award shows that the hard work of the whole of the Outdoor & Country team hasn’t gone unnoticed,” he adds.

Getting plenty of ‘Likes’…

One area that Outdoor & Country has focused on this year has been in raising their social media profile. “Our Tweets and Facebook status updates as well as some great blogs have been an invaluable tool in engaging first-hand with our customers more frequently and in a relaxed way,” comments Jonathan Capener. “Because of the more open environment you get on social media sites you tend to get genuinely honest feedback, which we can then take on board and use to improve our service to all our customers,” he explains.

Based in Blackbrook, Newcastle Under Lyme, Smith and Morris Retail Ltd currently runs a number of highly successful websites including the Outdoor & Country site. Jonathan Capener believes that a focus on continual improvement has been the reason behind the success of the site. “We are constantly looking at ways to improve every aspect of the online experience for our customers, from browsing to buying and on site functionality, he explains. “But what’s really made it work well for us, and the real reason behind our nomination for one of the most prestigious online retail awards, is the team effort of everyone at Outdoor & Country,” he adds.

New lines

The company is busy expanding its online range of top quality casual and outdoor clothing. 2013 has already been one of their busiest years, with development and improvement on websites and the product ranges on offer. Now the company is determined to bring the best of British brands to a wider audience. “We’re all looking forward to the event at the Royal Garden Hotel in London in September, but in the meantime it’s very much business as usual for us in what is turning into one of our most successful years ever,” concludes Jonathan Capener.
