Peugeot UK Rallies Behind Rising Star Driver Catie Munnings With New 208 Black Edition
The 2016 FIA Ladies European Rally Champion, Catie Munnings, has been announced as the latest brand ambassador for Peugeot UK.
Last year, Catie, aged 18, became the first female British driver to win a European Rally title in almost half a century, piloting thePeugeot208 R2 to success as part of the Saintéloc Junior Rally Team.
The rising star only started her racing career at the end of 2015, but still managed to go on and win her maiden title by racing at Ypres in Belgium and Liepaja in Latvia, collecting enough points in the remainder of the season to be crowned champion.
The team, based in France has experienced great success with the Peugeot Rally Academy, both in European and World Rally Championships and Catie’s prowess on the track makes her the perfect partner to launch the sporty new 208 Black Edition.
Set apart by its unique exterior styling options, the new Peugeot 208 Black Edition is available in a range of three eye-catching paint colours; Nera Black, Bianca White and Hurricane Grey offset with striking 16” Titane gloss black alloy wheels with white laser engraving plus equaliser grille with gloss black finisher and gloss black door mirror shells with colour accents.
Powered by the 1.2L PureTech 82 petrol engine, the new 208 Black Edition offers sprightly performance and 62.8 MPG combined. This winning combination helped the 1.2L PureTech win the ‘International Engine of the Year’ title in the 1.0L to 1.4L category in both 2015 & 2016.
Stepping inside, drivers have the latest technology at their fingertips with a 7” multifunction colour touchscreen alongside DAB Digital radio; Bluetooth®, CarPlay®, MirrorLink® & Android Auto connectivity.
Available now from £14,595 OTR, the new 208 Black Edition is set to become the key model of the three-door range of the hugely successful Peugeot 208.
Catie commented: “I’m very excited to kick start my next chapter with Peugeot. There are some exciting projects in the pipeline that I‘m thrilled to be a part of. I think the Peugeot 208 Black Edition is a brilliant car too. It looks and feels great and I really think its sporting appeal sets it apart – its basically any young person’s dream car!”
David Peel, Managing Director at Peugeot UK, commented: “Catie’s achievements speak for themselves and her knowledge of the Peugeot brand’s sporting heritage means bringing her on board as one of our ambassadors was a natural next step.
“Catie is no stranger to the Peugeot 208 either having driven it extensively in rally car guise, and the new Black Edition gives buyers more choice with a striking but sophisticated styling package and the latest connectivity technology.”
