NetBenefit drives reliability for Alpha Micro vehicle tracking system

*Alpha Micro ensures 24x7 availability for fleet managers with robust hosting solution*

London, UK – 10 November 2009 – NetBenefit, one of the UK’s most experienced managed hosting providers, has been chosen to provide the high availability hosting platform behind Alpha Micro’s online vehicle tracking system, allowing fleet managers across the UK to have all the information they need about their vehicles at their fingertips.

Developed in conjunction with Road Angel, the electronic component distributor’s solution was initially designed as a low-cost asset tracking service. However, following an increased demand for more up-to-the-minute vehicle-related information, the system was updated to incorporate significantly more accurate, real-time data to allow fleet managers to better control and manage their mobile workforce.

Christos Papakyriacou, managing director at Alpha Micro explains: “The changes to our system meant a marked rise in the frequency and quantity of users accessing the data through the web portal, which in turn led to a dramatic increase in bandwidth and performance requirements. This resulted in significant pressure on the hosting infrastructure and unacceptable downtime levels from our previous ISP.”

Since partnering with NetBenefit, Alpha Micro customers have benefited from enhanced uptime and improved end user experience. NetBenefit’s managed hosting platform provides Alpha Micro with a highly available, tailored solution, which can be fully scaled as required. It also has the capacity to support future expansion of their GPS tracking solutions into the European market and beyond.

Papakyriacou continues: “We needed an advanced infrastructure that could handle the necessary volume of data capture, data storage and application hosting requirements. Many of our customers run their businesses around the clock, so 24-hour availability and fast download capacity are absolutely key.

“NetBenefit’s high availability offering was the most compelling selling point for us, because our customers need access to the information stored on the site anywhere, at anytime. We can now absolutely guarantee a robust, uninterrupted service to our customers.”

Colin Bell, managing director at NetBenefit, adds: “The Road Angel Group and their vast customer base across the country rely on Alpha Micro to provide continuous access to business critical information. NetBenefit’s bespoke hosting solution has already drastically reduced downtime, giving Road Angels’ customers access to their data whenever and wherever they need it. As the tracking system gains more users, so our hosting service can expand to meet that demand whilst still providing unbeatable security and reliability.”
