The Porthcawl Elvis Festival has always supported and celebrated diversity. Accordingly we are proud to announce that this year, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, the Porthcawl Elvis Festival is presenting an award for an LGBTQ Elvis Tribute. We are delighted to celebrate James Haslam for his act, Elberace: A Hunk of Mincing Love. https://www.gayelvis.com/
Porthcawl Elvis Festival Founder & Organiser Peter Phillips said, ‘We have always prided ourselves on diversity both by taking Elvis’ music into different genres and also working with groups operating in sectors such as dementia, homelessness and special education needs. We thought James’ act was very much in the spirit we wish to celebrate within our Festival.’
James Haslam said, ‘I am deeply honoured to receive this award, and hope to inspire others with my experience. Elberace is about embodying Elvis’ empowering spirit, and how his music has enabled me to love myself. My interpretation of the traditional tribute act enables me to participate in the international Elvis Sensation.’
