OMRON provides pharmacists with free CPD training on hypertension
the important contribution made by community pharmacy teams in the prevention, detection and management of high blood pressure is key
Understanding hypertension can provide today’s pharmacists with supplementary knowledge that can enable them to support their customers in an awareness around the importance of measuring their blood pressure at home and so also help grow and develop their sales of over the counter (OTC) products, such as blood pressure monitors. OMRON is supporting this by providing free professional training events focussed on hypertension.
Around one in three adults in the UK has high blood pressure. In England 31% of men and 26% of women have high blood pressure [1] and the important contribution made by community pharmacy teams in the prevention, detection and management of high blood pressure is key within their local communities.
Acknowledging that with the change of funding being a key issue for pharmacy in the UK, OMRON has launched a series of free workshops across where pharmacists will receive Continuing Professional Development (CPD) training.
Throughout Europe, the OMRON Academy has delivered unique training programmes for pharmacies and clinical assistants. The current sessions are delivered by Liam Stapleton, a registered pharmacist who has experience of working in retail, the NHS and academia as well as writing for a number of publications.
The sessions will focus on:
Understanding hypertension and the cardiovascular system
Blood pressure measurement Practical hands on demonstration how to take an accurate blood pressure reading
Opportunity to try out OMRON’s latest monitors
Chance to win consultation room equipment for monitoring
