COURSES AND ACTIVITIES FOR ALL THE FAMILY FROM JUNE TO AUGUST 2010

London, June 2010: Learn to Sail, hike up a dormant volcano or fly through the air over the rainforest – whatever they choose to do, Kids Are VIPs in St. Kitts this summer with the launch of a brand new family programme offering the perfect solution to keep children occupied and parents relaxed during the school holidays.

The new Kids Are VIPs programme has been launched by the St. Kitts Tourism Authority, in partnership with activity companies across the island to give all children on holiday in St. Kitts a chance to get active, learn a new sport or just have fun. From June through to August, the scheme will offer a range of activities or ‘activity camps’ for children between the ages of two to fifteen (2-15 years) and ‘families’, from arts and crafts, hikes and island tours to full-thrill watersports and ziplining. To make Kids Are VIPs even more special, hotels and restaurants across St. Kitts are offering a range of discounts and free child offers during the summer period.

Rosecita Jeffers, CEO of the St Kitts Tourism Authority said “In this Celebrate St. Kitts year, we are delighted to be launching Kids Are VIPs. The very name says it all; with this new initiative, the emphasis is on families on holiday in St. Kitts during the summer, making sure Kids not only have fun while on holiday but also learn something new they can take back with them, make new friends and, most importantly, get a feel for the destination they are visiting. The family market is one of the biggest and most competitive markets in the UK; particularly for the summer holidays and we hope this new initiative will prove to be an additional selling tool for agents and operators selling family holidays.”

As part of the inaugural Kids Are VIPs programme, kids on holiday in St. Kitts will have a choice of amazing activities as well as hotel and restaurant offers as follows:

Learn to Sail

A basic sailing course will introduce kids and their parents to the fundamentals of small boat sailing.
Run by the St. Kitts Sailing School, lessons start from US$100.00 for a one hour lesson or US$180.00 for two hours of pure sailing fun for two adults and two children under 10, while the Basic Skills Level 1 Course at US$500.00 includes 3 two-hour lessons for two adults and two children.
