Dudley-based structural steel fabricators Steel and Site recently completed a steel construction project for a new Starbucks café and drive-through set to open in West Bromwich in the new year.
Steel and Site are a local and independent business based in the West Midlands. They have been providing steelwork design, fabrication and installation across the country for over 25 years.
A spokesperson for the business said, ‘Steel and Site relished the opportunity to work with building contractors MCS Group Ltd. for the first time on the new Starbucks café.’
The new Starbucks is situated in a prime location on the Birmingham Road very close by to the West Bromwich Albion football stadium the Hawthorns (the proximity to the football ground can be seen in one of the images of the project in construction below!)
Steel and Site took just three weeks to complete the steel erection for the new 2,000 square foot café. The project required 13.7 tonnes of hot rolled steel and 3.2 tonnes of cold rolled steel to complete.
The images below show the steel construction process. First Steel columns were installed into the concrete base. Steel cross sections were then lifted using heavy machinery before being bolted into place on the columns. Finally, cladding rails and braces were fitted to the external columns to secure the side cladding panels and roof panels.
The construction of the café is now well underway with the kitchen currently being fitted out and staff being hired ready for when they open.
