Stocksigns Climbs Mountain in Support of RoSPA

Mount Toubkal Team

The team at Stocksigns has set a target of raising £4,000 for RoSPA

Standing at a total of 4,167 meters high and located within the Toubkal National Park in south-western Morocco, Mount Toubkal is North Africa’s tallest peak. Stocksigns Group, a Redhill-based signage specialist company, has assembled a team to climb the peak in aid of The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) this month.

RoSPA is a charity which helps to reduce the amount of serious accidental injuries across work, leisure and schools. According to RoSPA, over 14,000 people die each year in the UK because of avoidable accidents (https://goo.gl/s4EMxS). RoSPA has been instrumental in shaping society for the better, from influencing the compulsory wearing of seatbelts to assisting the ban on mobile phone usage in vehicles.

Stocksigns Group is an active member of RoSPA and provides high-quality signage through three sub-divisions, Stocksigns, First Call Signs and Messagemaker Displays. The team has already completed charitable activities in aid of RoSPA, including the ‘Three Peaks Challenge’, office bake sales and sponsored cycling events.

Managing Director of Stocksigns Group, Danny Adamson, who will be climbing Mount Toubkal this month said, “We’re really looking forward to the challenge ahead. Climbing the highest peak in North Africa is not only something we will always remember, but to know we are doing it in aid of a great cause gives us that extra drive to succeed.

“We have had a number of fantastic supporters for our upcoming trek, including Gatwick Airport, Applelec, Metamark, Windmill Tapes, AnswerPak, NE Plastics Western Sign Systems, Trico Vitreous Enamellers and Identitag Limited. We would like to thank them and many others for their ongoing support. RoSPA is a brilliant charity providing top quality care to those who need it most and we want to make them proud. We will be taking Stocksigns and RoSPA signs with us all the way to the summit.”

A team of twelve members; six from the Stocksigns Group, two from Gatwick, RoSPA and other affiliating companies will be climbing Mount Toubkal in aid of RoSPA’s ‘Brighter Beginnings Appeal’ which recognises that avoidable accidents are one of the biggest killers of young people in the UK. This campaign ensures that parents are provided with a ‘Keeping Kids Safe’ pack detailing vital safety tips, tools and support for young families.

The assembled team have completed weekly practice walks up Reigate Hill led by the trek organiser, David Cload. This training provided the group with a chance to test the gadgets they had purchased in preparation for their ascent of Mount Toubkal. On average for each practice, the team covered a total of 5.6 miles at an elevation of 731 feet in just under two hours. The team showed their dedication by practicing in extreme conditions such as snow, ice and high temperatures. They are seen here, going through their final paces prior to their departure on May 19.

The team at Stocksigns has set a target of raising £4,000 for RoSPA to give families a better chance of starting ‘Brighter Beginnings’. The company has set a challenge to climb the peak in under three days which will require exceptional teamwork, fitness and stamina to complete.
