Recent statistics released by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) show that there are 64,000 non-fatal injuries to construction workers each year, with 24% of these resulting from slips, trips or falls. In 2016 and 2017 alone, there were 30 fatal injuries to construction workers in the UK.

Redhill-based signage specialists, Stocksigns Group has continued to improve workers’ safety by providing key signage to the construction industry. Placing the appropriate signage in the right locations can be a vital factor in eliminating serious accidents and injuries to staff members. The company, comprising of Stocksigns, First Call Signs and Messagemaker Displays, is one of Britain’s leading sign makers and digital printers with over 60 years expertise.

{{There is evidence to suggest that signage has improved overall safety within the construction industry.}} According to Fulcran engineering and training consultants, the estimated number of working days lost due to injury reduced from 39.5 million in 2000/02 to 27.3 million in 2014/15. Implementing the appropriate signage is not only a core principal of a safe workforce, but also helps employers to encourage personal safety within the workplace.

As well as a full range of standard Health and Safety signs Stocksigns can supply large site safety boards, temporary and digital signs including those that report real time information of accidents and incidents and traffic speed indictors to control vehicle movements across large developments. Signs can be customised and personalised to include companies’ names and logos, ensuring the brand is prominent to workers, visitors and the public.

Danny Adamson, Managing Director of Stocksigns Group said, “As a signage provider for the construction industry, we understand the importance of workers’ safety and the ability to maintain this is paramount to us.

“Promoting safety through the appropriate signage is key for employers and workers within the field, while highlighting the importance of personal safety in an environment where risks must be managed carefully. It is our duty to provide high-quality signage with key messages to prevent serious accidents, so that people can come to work with a sense of security.”

In addition to this, for the last eight years, Stocksigns Group has been working in partnership with The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) in aiding the prevention of accidents and keeping people safe.

Stocksigns Group also recently completed a trek up Mount Toubkal in Morocco in aid of RoSPA. Over £4,500 has been raised in aid of RoSPA’s ‘Brighter Beginnings Appeal’ which focuses on educating young families on safety precautions to keep children safe within the home.
