Triometric Powers Per-User Network Trouble-Shooting with New Traceroute Module

Application performance monitoring provider launches new tool for understanding web user experience and bottlenecks

Egham, Surrey – 25 October 2010 - Application performance monitoring (APM) provider, Triometric today launched Traceroute, a module that powers network trouble-shooting on a per-user basis. Licensed as a separate module to Triometric’s Web Analyzer, it enables organisations to gain greater insight into the end user experience by identifying network bottlenecks.

Web Analyzer tests and monitors real-user behaviour to accelerate processes such as web booking times or information delivery as well as optimising uptime, improving customer service and helping to proactively manage business partners, suppliers and service level agreements.

Based on standard desktop Traceroute technology, it traces web browser routes and analyses the time taken between each pair of locations. This helps the performance monitor to understand where the slowest links are, who ‘owns’ the problem and determine whether anything can be done about it. The Traceroute module can perform this function every five minutes, for every user; delivering an unrivalled view of enterprise connectivity.

Triometric’s flagship Web Analyzer product is already in use by organisations such as GTA Travelport (Gullivers Travel Associates) and Thomson Reuters as the performance backbone for online bookings and information delivery. It is totally non-intrusive and adds no network latency. Alternative technologies and solutions usually involve capturing information on the servers. Web Analyzer’s passive packet capture technology is completely transparent with no inline interference with customer requests.

Matthew Goulden, Managing Director at Triometric explained, “The Traceroute module for Web Analyzer further enhances our end-user monitoring. It is absolutely vital that any organisation with a web-based offering has visibility of what their users, be they internal or external, are experiencing in terms of response times and availability. Without that insight and intelligence it is almost impossible to plan resource, optimise customer service or fully understand where best to allocate infrastructure investment.”
