Zen named MEN Business of the Year

Zen scooped the award in the hard fought £50 million to £100 million turnover category

Zen has been named a Manchester Evening News Business of the Year at a glittering ceremony attended by the cream of the region’s business talent.

Over 400 people were at the event at Manchester’s Principal Hotel, where Zen scooped the award in the hard fought £50 million to £100 million turnover category, beating competition from across the Greater Manchester region. The MEN awards, now in their 25th year, are one of the most prestigious regional business awards in the UK.

Martin O’Donnell, Zen’s managing director for corporate and mid-market, collected the award on behalf of the company. Martin said: “It’s a real honour for Zen to be named Business of the Year in our home region. It was a tough and very thorough selection process even to get on the shortlist, and the judges took the time to get to know our business, our ambitions and our commitment to the region. So it really feels like a meaningful award.

“And it is testament to the hard work of all Zen’s staff and the talent we have in our Rochdale HQ. This award celebrates the achievements of the whole company across our four divisions. I’d like to thank everyone at Zen for helping to make this happen.”

Zen is a multi-award winning provider of connectivity and networking services to residential and business customers, and a Which? Recommended Provider for Broadband. The company’s MEN award entry focused on the steps the company has taken to secure its future, including a recent multi-million pound investment in its next generation data network. The judges were impressed by the company’s ambition and its long-standing commitment to the community that supports it.
Zen is an independent business with national reach and deep local roots in the North West.

M.E.N. business editor Shelina Begum said: “Manchester is a vibrant city with a number of strong sectors, and this is reflected not only in tonight’s winners, but also the finalists.

“The region’s best businesses are of huge importance to us all, in terms of creating jobs, economic output and creating a general sense of optimism and well-being.”
