NEW WEBSITE - WWW.FINDATVEXPERT.COM - GIVES EXPERTS THE CHANCE TO BE SPOTTED BY TV & MEDIA COMPANIES, created by TV producer Claire Richmond, was launched on the 28th of April to provide an online service the experts want and the TV&Media companies need. Namely, to give experts who want to be considered for TV&Media opportunities the chance to showcase their expertise to the industry – and to give the industry a fast and easy way of finding experts to comment on a subject or be part of a show. TV&Media companies might go to the site to find a specific expert for a specific article or programme - or they might go to the site to browse through the photos and profiles and get the inspiration for a new series or the next ‘big thing’.

In short, is designed to introduce the professionals to the programme makers – and there’s never been a better time for it. The BBC recently pledged £8m a year for ‘landmark’ factual content over the next five years, with a ‘particular emphasis on science and history’ (Broadcast, 9 May 2008). Five is looking for stripped factual series, factual reality programmes, factual and feature programmes that feel unique - plus uplifting lifestyle programming: travel, property and parenting (Broadcast, 14 December 2007) and Channel 4 is looking to broaden its horizons and ‘bring more breadth to the genre' (Broadcast, 28 September 2007).

Successful, factual programmes need passionate and inspiring experts. Think of Supernanny, Grand Designs, Coast, 10 Years Younger, the House of Tiny Tearaways, the F-Word and The Apprentice, to name but a few. They all needed experts when they were devised and so will all future factual programmes. Up until now, however, there’s never been an easy way for the industry to find the experts – or for the experts to promote themselves to the industry, which is why Claire Richmond set up

Everyone with the skills, training and qualifications to prove they’re an expert in their field of business can register on From art therapists to zoologists and everyone in between - forensic scientists, vicars, bailiffs, embalmers, marine biologists, dentists, detectives, designers, engineers, etc – because you never know what will catch a producer’s eye and ignite the creative process.

Registration costs £100 per year – less than the cost of a latte a week – and gives experts the chance to create a searchable profile and CV page, complete with photos, contact details, details of projects they’re working on that might be of interest to the media, links to professional websites, etc. More importantly, it gives experts the opportunity to be continuously promoted to the industry by a TV professional who understands the needs of the experts and of the Media.

”Britain’s got experts and they can now showcase their expertise to the industry,” said Claire Richmond, Founder of “Violinists and dancers do it on Britain’s Got Talent, singers do it on the X-Factor and experts with the X-Pert factor can now do it on And it’s working. The site’s been live for just under a month and experts have already been spotted and approached by production companies,” added Richmond.

Members of the media looking for experts to comment on a subject or be part of a show can register and search the site for free.
