BoardPacks is a hugely useful tool for us – meeting attendees have access to all of the current information they need

eShare’s online board portal allows exam regulator to slash printing costs and make meetings smarter

22 September – Government department and exam regulator Ofqual is using the BoardPacks online board portal in meetings all across the organisation, to reduce printing costs and to help make meetings smarter.

BoardPacks is a digital tool from technology firm eShare, which looks to improve governance and transparency, and make meetings smarter. Predominantly seen as a portal for board members, the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual) is using BoardPacks in most of its meetings, and has reduced its printing spend significantly since BoardPacks has been in use.

“As an organisation that requires a lot of meetings and discussion to achieve our objectives, BoardPacks is a hugely useful tool for us – meeting attendees have access to all of the current information they need, and also the information that has been archived,” said Peter Arnold, Manager Business & Projects, Ofqual. “A significant proportion of our reduced printing spend is due to the impact BoardPacks has had – it has affected a cultural change across the organisation, in regard to how we hold and manage meetings.”

Ofqual was looking for ways to make its various information management processes better, faster and cheaper. After searching for, and evaluating a number of different meeting management options via G-Cloud, Ofqual selected BoardPacks.

“People no longer print materials, and can arrive at a meeting knowing they have single piece of information they could need, available and easily accessible on the iPad,” continued Peter Arnold. “Since implementing BoardPacks, it is now currently used by around 75% of our entire workforce, and is one of the most popular and widely-used digital tools we have introduced.”

BoardPacks is designed to make it easier for board members to demonstrate accountability, compliance and transparency, and is used by more than 500 organisations across the UK and Europe. Also available as an app for tablets or smartphones, it is a smarter way to access meeting papers, documents, risk registers and decisions.
