Brice Bonneviale completes the Enduroman Arch2Arc to raise funds for Pure Ocean
From June 22nd to 25th, Brice Bonneviale, confirmed French athlete, completed the Enduroman, an extreme triathlon between London and Paris, in 75h45mn. Dedicated to the environmental cause, he undertook this challenge in support of Pure Ocean.
An unparalleled athletic performance
On June 22nd at 8 p.m., Brice Bonneviale and his team took advantage of a favourable weather window to tackle the Enduroman, a race from Marble Arch (London) to the Arc de Triomphe (Paris). The athlete first ran the 140k between London and Dover in 16h55mn. Then on June 24th at 1 a.m., he began his crossing of the Channel, landing in Sangatte after having defied the cold and strong tides during 21h51mn. After a short night of rest, he got on his bike on Tuesday, June 25th at 9 a.m. to reach Paris. He arrived on the Champs Elysées on this same day at 11:45 p.m. after pedaling for 14h37mn.
The Enduroman was created in 2001 by Edgar Ette, a British man who completed it in 81h05mn. Brice Bonneviale finished the Arch2Arc in 75h45mn, thus becoming the 37th person to succeed in this extreme triathlon.
However, this achievement does not seem enough for Brice: he decided to continue the adventure and extend the bike race from Notre-Dame de Paris to … Notre-Dame de la Garde, in Marseille. He’s due to arrive there this Saturday, June 29th.
An engaged team for a sustainable race
From London to Paris, while Brice was running, swimming, pedaling, his team was picking up the rubbish they found on the way, thus making this Enduroman the longest sustainable race ever completed. Brice Bonneviale and his team seek to contribute to raising awareness about current environmental issues, and they were therefore eager to join Pure Ocean’s cause. The
objective of the race is to raise 20 000€ for Pure Ocean.
A race against time to save the oceans
Pure Ocean, a Marseille-based endowment fund, supports innovative applied reseach projects in order to preserve marine biodiversity and restore fragile ecosystems. The projects are selected by Pure Ocean’s Scientific Committee following a yearly international call for projects.
Pure Ocean also seeks to alert the general public about the situation of threatened ecosystems via exceptional athletic races and challenges. Brice Bonneviale’s adventure is the first of a series of events called “Race for Pure Ocean”.
