TV gardener David Domoney officially opens new Everest Garden Room at the WI’s Denman college

Everest Garden Room opening at WI Denman

Some lucky students will be utilising the bright space for their courses in the coming months but it's also a wonderful addition for all to delight in

Popular TV gardener David Domoney officially opened the new Garden Room at the WI’s Denman college in Marcham, Oxfordshire on Monday 9 April, donated by home improvement company Everest to mark the college’s 70th birthday celebrations this year.

The attractive and versatile Garden Room is made from extra thick, sustainably-produced timber. Fully insulated and complete with Everest’s energy efficient windows and doors, it will provide a useable and comfortable space for the college and WI members to enjoy all year round. An adjoining storage area with a separate door makes it a particularly flexible resource, whilst the abundance of natural light means it will be an ideal location for Denman’s small courses and workshops.

Speaking at the official opening of the Everest Garden Room, David Domoney commented, “I'm delighted to open this garden room in such a super location. It will provide a great opportunity for so many visitors to enjoy a wide variety of activities, such as writing, drawing or just enjoying nature. Generally speaking, being outside and in the garden makes us feel better and happier, so having a garden room like this at Denman means that visitors will be able to relax or learn new skills while benefiting from the surrounding views and nature.”

Jane Dixon, Head of Denman, said, “We're thrilled to have the wonderful Everest Garden Room in the Denman grounds for all our visitors to enjoy. Some lucky students will be utilising the bright space for their courses in the coming months but it's also a wonderful addition for all to delight in. It will be open all year round for visitors to enjoy, providing a space for them to have lunch, meditate, or have a chat with a new friend. As with all the rooms at Denman, it will also be available for hire to the general public for meetings, parties and other gatherings.”

This is the latest in a series of activities involving the WI and Everest, with a range of other shared initiatives and improvements already underway to support Denman and members of the WI.

Everest's Marketing Director, Martin Troughton, said, “We are pleased to support the WI, which is a fantastic institution, and to gift the new Garden Room to Denman to celebrate its 70th birthday. We hope that visitors to the college will enjoy the new addition to the garden, which provides a tranquil space where they can relax and admire the fabulous views back to Denman.”

Everest’s new Garden Room will be on sale from late summer this year, giving homeowners an opportunity to add an extra room to their property without having the disruption of an extension. Available in a range of sizes, designs and finishes, with lighting and electrical sockets included, the Garden Room including the base comes fully installed.

Visitors to Denman will find the new Garden Room outside the main house, to the left of the herb garden.
