Setting up the information points BrightHouse provides its customers with information on the learndirect courses in their area.
Approximately five million adults in the UK have a reading age of 11 or less. BrightHouse believes providing access to learning and skills is a business priority.
Brighthouse customers are encouraged to complete a learndirect course by BrightHouse staff with the incentive of a £20 credit to their Brighthouse account. Brighthouse staff within the stores are also encouraged to try learndirect for themselves.
The pilot was launched in four BrightHouse stores within the Midlands in 2008.
