AIIM’s Peggy Winton Named Interim President

Peggy Winton

During her tenure at AIIM, Peggy has demonstrated expertise in operational leadership, programme design and implementation

Silver Spring, Maryland, June 14th, 2016 – AIIM’s Board of Directors has named Peggy Winton as interim president for the remainder of 2016. Winton, AIIM’s COO, had already assumed the responsibilities of the role of president when John Mancini transitioned to Chief Evangelist at the beginning of the year. Mancini’s new role is to focus on strategy and business development, continuing as an author, analyst, and keynote speaker.

Winton, who has been at AIIM for 14 years, has held a number of senior management positions at the organisation including VP of Product Development, VP of Sales & Marketing, Chief Marketing Officer, and most recently Chief Operating Officer. She joined AIIM following the sale of the AIIM Conference & Exposition in 2002, assuming responsibility for developing a year-round education portfolio spanning research, virtual events and publications. She built AIIM's first B2B sales and marketing system to support the new product lines, and expanded the membership community from a subscriber base of 35,000 to 196,000 active members currently.

Tony Peleska, AIIM Board of Directors Chairman and leader of the transition committee, commented, “During her tenure at AIIM, Peggy has demonstrated expertise in operational leadership, programme design and implementation, marketing strategies, and capital allocation. She is known for her ability to wear multiple hats and manage multiple, complex programs. With a deep understanding of the mission and the strategy of the organisation, she is ideally positioned to drive our plans forward with the full support of the staff and the Board.”

The AIIM Board of Directors and the transition committee will work with Winton to achieve the objectives set out in the multiyear plan for AIIM by the board in 2015, as the next steps to name a permanent president are determined. This plan has resulted in the association’s most recent conference being its most successful in 15 years, and its goals include growing AIIM’s membership and maintaining its upward trajectory.

“I really appreciate this vote of confidence and am excited at the opportunity to take AIIM forward in its next chapter. I look forward to building on the strategy set by the Board and creating a foundation for future success,” Winton said. “The way that organisations manage information has become a primary source of competitive advantage, and of potential disruption, and AIIM is ideally positioned to help. We have a solid business plan focused on delivering new and evolving resources to help organisations with their information-intensive business processes, challenges, and applications. I look forward to putting this into action and leveraging the significant growth in our community already seen this year.”
