Swindon, Wiltshire, 22nd March 2019: Paul Moorby, founder and CEO of Chipside, today received an OBE in a ceremony held at Windsor Castle.

Paul received the OBE for services to promoting the UK technology sector abroad. The award was announced as part of the New Year Honours list 2019.

Paul is the founder and CEO of Swindon-based Chipside. The company’s core software and services can be deployed to provide a whole host of ticketing and permitting services digitally, reducing both time and cost and delivering a more effective service to end users.

Chipside’s services are used by more than three million people in the UK and the company operates the MiPermit brand, which has helped almost two million people benefit from cashless parking. The company works with more than half of all UK councils to make parking and permitting easier.

A passionate advocate of UK innovation, Paul has promoted Chipside and UK capabilities in Europe, the Americas and Asia. He is travelling to Taiwan tomorrow as part of a Department of International Trade (DIT) delegation promoting British business at the Smart City Expo in Taipei.

“I feel truly honoured to have received this recognition,” comments Paul. “I believe it recognises the entire team of 50 at Chipside and demonstrates that a passionate and innovative regional company can have a positive impact to deliver a more effective solution to daily frustrations such as parking and permitting.”

Chipside is based close to Swindon in Wiltshire and the company is a significant local employer. It also contributes to the local community through sponsorship and support for good causes. This year, MiPermit is a gold sponsor of the 2019 Salisbury Armed Forces Day.
