UK Physio launches website to help back pain sufferers
A unique new website which offers relief from back pain with online Pilates workouts designed and taught by a prominent expert in physiotherapy has launched.
Your Pilates Physio is an online Clinical Pilates resource created by a highly experienced, chartered physiotherapist. It gives subscribers access to an extensive library of Clinical Pilates workouts, with classes for beginner, intermediate and advanced levels.
Unlike many online workouts, the Your Pilates Physio classes have been specifically designed by a leader in the field to provide an evidenced, clinical programme of workouts for those suffering with back pain.
Lyndsay Hirst, chartered physiotherapist and founder of Your Pilates Physio said, “My vision for the website was to create a safe environment for anyone searching the internet for exercises to ease their back pain. The only other subscription-based Pilates websites out there are all fitness focused and not specifically targeted to someone with back pain – which means they can end up doing more harm than good. As a physiotherapist with 15 years experience at treating and managing back pain with Clinical Pilates, all of the Your Pilates Physio workouts are evidence based and backed up with clinical research.”
Subscribers to the site fill in a health questionnaire which details their specific health condition and back problem. This information is then used to recommend a tailored program of workouts specifically targeted at that particular problem. This level of personalisation, all led by Hirst, ensures that exercises completed are right for the user, helping to alleviate back pain and discomfort.
The launch of Your Pilates Physio follows the worldwide success of a 30-minute Pilates for back pain YouTube video, which Hirst posted last year. The video has amassed more than 40,000 views to date, with many commenting that the workout helped to ease their back pain and a high demand for additional videos.
Calling on over a decade’s worth of experience as a physiotherapist, Hirst has poured all of her knowledge of the musculoskeletal system and numerous clinical Pilates and Yoga qualifications into Your Pilates Physio. The one-of-a-kind resource includes workouts tailored for sports types, such as Pilates for runners and Pilates for swimmers, building on Hirst’s knowledge of common muscle imbalances and the strengths, weaknesses and restrictions commonly associated with particular fitness patterns.
There are injury prevention workouts, also known as prehab, designed to help those prone to injury to condition their stabilising muscles and improve flexibility, strength and control for injury prevention.
For new mums and mums-to-be, there are carefully designed postnatal workouts that target the pelvic floor and aid recovery from Diastasis Rectus, a split tummy muscle that can occur during pregnancy.
In addition to the Physio-prescribed program of exercise routines, Your Pilates Physio users get full access to the entire library of Clinical Pilates workouts and unlimited email access to Hirst.
The Your Pilates Physio Clinical Pilates workouts combine adapted Pilates exercises, clinical yoga and physiotherapy exercises – they have all been used and adapted by Hirst in thousands of Pilates classes, delivered at her Physiotherapy practices own studio. Each workout is 30-minutes long and can be done at home. They are safe for those with spinal problems, hip pain, pelvic issues and neck pain.
